Central Asia Itineraries

DeWonder Travel has years of experience crafting in-depth Central Asia journeys, having successfully led dozens of in-depth tour groups and study tours across the five countries of Central Asia — from deserts to snowfields, weaving through magnificent ancient architecture and history.

Our in-depth itineraries also venture to Turkmenistan's "Door to Hell" — a site rarely visited by ordinary tour groups — to witness the spectacle of a flaming desert crater; we wander through authentic grand bazaars, visit Central Asian families, share meals and exchanges with locals, and stay in yurts in the desert. Experience the customs and scenery of the five Central Asian countries in depth from many angles.

In-Depth Central Asia: Discover All Five Silk Road Countries in One Journey

Travelling to Central Asia means visiting the countries the Silk Road must pass through. Although the "Five Stans" are commonly grouped together as the five countries of Central Asia, their customs and landscapes are strikingly different. DeWonder Travel offers flexible itineraries, allowing you to choose to visit two to five countries according to your own preferences.

Uzbekistan has perfectly preserved its unique landscapes: majestic and awe-inspiring Silk Road palaces and madrasas that make you feel as if you have stepped into a fairy tale from One Thousand and One Nights. Neighbouring Kazakhstan is the most economically prosperous nation in Central Asia; its capital's groundbreaking architecture and Kolsai Lake — hailed as the "Pearl of the Tian Shan" — enrich everyone's imagination of Central Asia. Turkmenistan is the least-known of the five Central Asian countries; its isolationist policy has earned it the nickname "the North Korea of Central Asia," lending it an air of endless mystery. The giant flaming crater in the desert, the "Door to Hell," is a world-class wonder that many travellers flock to see. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan boast serene and magnificent natural scenery, along with a distinctive nomadic culture.

Through years of close cooperation with local partners, DeWonder Travel's exclusive itineraries take you from deserts to alpine lakes, from world wonders to the homes of nomadic herders, presenting the many facets of Central Asia. Discover more of Central Asia's charm through authentic and enlightening experiences.

Our in-depth tours average 8–14 people and never exceed 18 per group, ensuring the best group atmosphere and activity quality.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Central Asia experiences significant climate variations, with cold and dry winters, hot and dry summers, and more comfortable weather in spring and autumn. Some areas have a continental climate with large temperature differences between day and night, especially in desert and mountainous regions, where nights can feel cold. Travellers are advised to prepare appropriate clothing according to the season—warm clothing for winter, and sun protection and moisturising products for summer.
