Nestled beneath the Himalayas, the small Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan has long been celebrated as the "happiest country on earth." Thanks to its deep commitment to preserving its unique culture and pristine natural landscapes, it once topped Lonely Planet’s list of top travel destinations. Visiting Bhutan in person, you truly feel you've stepped into a rare sanctuary on Earth.

In Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, there are no traffic lights—yet traffic accidents are practically non-existent. You won't find generic international chains here, only charming local shops. Buildings are constructed with local wood and stone, seamlessly blending into nature. Adorned with colorful murals and auspicious Buddhist motifs, every corner exudes a sense of peace and Zen.

Yet, what touches travelers most is the genuine simplicity and kindness of the Bhutanese people. Content with little material desire, they are quietly thoughtful and considerate. During our hike up to the iconic Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang), our local guide quietly carried extra bottled water and snacks for everyone. Along the trail, we even saw a monk carrying an altitude-sick tourist on his back, swiftly rushing down the mountain to help.

While Bhutan faces its own modern challenges, devotion, purity, and compassion remain the soul of the nation. Standing firm in their values and guarding their inner peace amidst a changing world—this is perhaps why Bhutan has the power to cleanse and heal so many souls.
