About this event

[Multiple groups already filled|Bhutan departure dates|Independent travel departs year-round, enquiries welcome]

Nestled at the foot of the Himalayas, the small Buddhist kingdom of
Bhutanhas long been hailed as the Happiest Country in the World. Thanks to its careful protection of a unique culture and stunning landscapes, it once topped the list of best travel destinations in the Lonely Planet guidebook. When we visited Bhutan in person, we saw that it truly is a rare pure land on earth.

Bhutan's capital,
Thimphu, has no traffic lights, yet traffic accidents are rare. There are no identical chain brands, only small, locally run shops. The buildings are all made from local natural materials such as wood and stone, blending into their surroundings; their designs feature colourful paintings and auspicious Buddhist motifs, so that a sense of calm and Zen can be felt everywhere.

But what is most moving about Bhutan is still the simplicity and kindness of its people. They have few material desires, finding contentment in what they have, and are always quietly considerate of others. During our hike up to
Tiger's Nest Monastery, our local guide silently carried plenty of bottled water and dry provisions. Along the way we even met a monk carrying a tourist who had fallen ill from altitude sickness, running swiftly down the mountain.

Of course, Bhutan has its own social and livelihood challenges, but devotion, purity and compassion remain the soul of Bhutan. Facing real-world challenges while steadfastly guarding inner peace and cherished values, and influencing more lives in the process—that is probably why Bhutan can cleanse countless souls.

Our previous online talks on in-depth Bhutan tours all received an enthusiastic response, and we hold regular monthly sharing sessions where DeWonder Travel's Bhutan travel expert Pam talks about her experiences visiting Bhutan and the highlights of our in-depth itineraries. Anyone interested is welcome to join us and chat about Bhutan's formula for happiness.
