Iraq Itineraries

In-Depth Iraq: Step into the Cradle of Civilisation and Explore the Brilliant Cultures of a War-Torn Land

Located on the ancient plains of Mesopotamia, Iraq is one of the birthplaces of human civilisation, with over five thousand years of accumulated history and culture. This land was once the heartland of the Sumerian, Babylonian and Assyrian empires, giving rise to the world's earliest cities, writing and legal systems.

Although modern Iraq frequently makes headlines for war and political turmoil, it also harbours an indelible wealth of heritage and genuine warmth. Strolling through the ruins of ancient Babylon, you can touch stone walls from millennia ago and feel the weight of history; crossing the Mesopotamian Marshes, you witness the fusion of Iraq's ancient civilisation with its natural ecology; and in the Islamic holy cities of Karbala and Najaf, you experience the devout pilgrimage culture of Muslims.

Visit the ancient city of Nineveh — the "city of sin" mentioned in the Bible — which still preserves the architecture and scholarly atmosphere of the Islamic Golden Age. The layers of culture here are like a kaleidoscope, blending the diverse colours of Arab, Kurdish, Assyrian and other peoples.

Venture deep into the Kurdistan Region in the north, share dinner with local families, and listen to how they sustain their homes and culture under the shadow of war. These true-life stories reveal a face of Iraq that no book could ever fully depict. Iraq's history is not only the glory of ancient civilisation, but also the resilience of a contemporary people confronting reconstruction and reconciliation. Visit war sites to feel the scars and hopes of history; listen to the voices of its various peoples to understand this nation's arduous journey from tyranny to rebirth.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Iraq is a country where desert and Mediterranean climates coexist. Summers are extremely hot and dry, with temperatures reaching up to 50°C, while winters are milder, though nights can be rather cold. Baghdad and the southern regions experience higher temperatures, whereas the northern Kurdistan region has a cooler climate, with snowfall even occurring in winter. We recommend preparing appropriate clothing according to the season—light, breathable clothing for summer, and warm clothing for winter.
