FAQ
What race options are available?
The event offers three race options: the 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km categories.Of these, the 10 km and 21 km courses are certified by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races).
What are the start times for each race?
Each race sets off in staggered starts at dawn, helping runners take on this marvel in the most comfortable temperatures:
- 10 KM and 21 KM (Half Marathon): 07:00 AM
- 5 KM category: 08:00 AM
What is the course terrain like?
Both the start and finish are set at the heart of the Giza Pyramids Plateau, where runners weave between ancient ruins and desert hills, experiencing the world's last remaining ancient wonder up close on foot. The course is undulating: the 5K route is relatively gentle, focused on soaking up the atmosphere and pyramid views, while the half marathon route offers a fair degree of challenge. The organiser is currently providing the 2025 course map for reference; should the final 2026 route be adjusted, it will be announced later.
What do you receive after finishing?
All runners who successfully complete the race will be awarded an official finisher's medal:I RACED THROUGH HISTORYAlso available:

What is the climate like in Egypt?
Egypt is located in North Africa, with large temperature differences between day and night. Days can be hot, but temperatures drop sharply after nightfall, and it may even feel cold. We recommend bringing a windproof jacket, long-sleeved clothing, long trousers and the like to adapt to the local weather changes and ensure a comfortable journey.
Do I need a visa to travel to Egypt?
Currentlyholders of a Hong Kong or Macao SAR passportcan enjoyvisa-free entryEnter Egypt and stay for 90 days with no need to apply for a visa in advance—you can enter directly.
Is it safe to travel to Egypt?
Overall, Egypt is a relatively safe travel destination, but near famous tourist attractions there are inevitably scammers and pickpockets targeting visitors. So when shopping or sightseeing in crowded places, keep an eye on your personal belongings at all times, avoid showing off valuables, try to avoid going out alone at night, and shop with care by investigating and bargaining when appropriate. Some local strangers may strike up conversations or enthusiastically offer to show you the way; we recommend ignoring approaches from strangers on the street and not readily following strangers to their homes. If you need directions, it's advisable to ask nearby shops or hotel staff to ensure safety. Some of Egypt's alleyways are intricate and Google Maps may not be accurate enough, so we recommend downloading the maps.me offline maps in advance so you can navigate without an internet connection.
What are the clothing requirements in Egypt?
Egypt is an Islamic country, but its customs are relatively free and open, and there are no overly strict rules on attire. However, as a traveller, it remains very important to respect local culture and religious customs. In most places, women don't need to wear a headscarf, but we recommend wearing long sleeves, long trousers or long skirts, and avoiding tank tops and shorts; sandals or flip-flops should not be worn, and you should avoid exposing your shoulders, ankles or the back of your neck.
Do I need vaccinations to enter Egypt?
Currently there are no mandatory vaccination requirements for travelling to Egypt from Hong Kong or Macau, nor is there any need to present a yellow fever or other vaccination certificate. If you have any special health conditions, we recommend consulting your family doctor or a travel clinic before departure.
Please note that if you travel to Egypt from elsewhere—departing from a high-risk yellow fever area, or transiting through an airport in such an area for more than 12 hours—you will need to carry a vaccination certificate.
What currency does Egypt use? Can I use credit cards in Egypt?
The currency used in Egypt is the Egyptian pound (EGP). Large hotels, restaurants and some shops accept international credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard, but at traditional markets (souks) or small stalls, transactions are mostly in cash. We recommend bringing euros or US dollars for on-hand expenses; after arrival we will arrange for everyone to exchange them for Egyptian pounds at the airport or in the city for daily use.
What language is spoken in Egypt? Is it easy to communicate in English?
The official language of Egypt is Arabic, and English is also widely used. At tourist hotspots and in hotels, basic communication in English poses little difficulty. However, in old-town markets or remote areas, locals' English proficiency is more limited; at those times our local guide and tour leader will assist with basic communication.
What is the transport situation like in Egypt?
Travel between cities is mainly by comfortable tour coaches, with journey times depending on distance and road conditions. Egypt's alleyways are narrow, and in some cases you may need to walk in and out.
What are the dietary habits in Egypt? Are there suitable options for vegetarians?
Egypt is famous for signature dishes such as Koshary, grilled meats, and shawarma—flavours tend to be rich, but the spices are all-natural. Most restaurants offer vegetarian options like fava bean dishes and bean stews. If you have special dietary requirements, such as vegan, gluten-free, or food allergies, please let us know in advance when you sign up, and we will help make arrangements.Throughout the journey, we will also do our best to arrange a variety of dining experiences, incorporating Western restaurants, authentic Egyptian cuisine, Chinese food, and more.

Guest Reviews
