Currently, holders of a Hong Kong or Macao SAR passport can enter Egypt visa-free and stay for 90 days, with no need to apply for a visa in advance—you can enter directly.

Egypt is, on the whole, a relatively safe travel destination, but near famous tourist attractions there are inevitably scammers and thieves targeting travellers. So when shopping or sightseeing in crowded places, always keep an eye on your personal belongings, avoid displaying valuables, and try to avoid going out alone at night. When shopping, be cautious in your enquiries and bargain when appropriate. Some local strangers may approach you or enthusiastically offer to guide you; we advise ignoring strangers who strike up conversation on the street and not readily following strangers home. If you need directions, we recommend asking staff at nearby shops or hotels to ensure your safety. Some of Egypt's alleys are intricate and winding, and Google Maps may not be accurate enough, so we suggest downloading maps.me offline maps in advance for navigation when there is no network connection.

Egypt is an Islamic country, but its culture is relatively free and open, and there are no overly strict rules regarding attire. Nevertheless, as a traveller, it remains very important to respect the local culture and religious customs. In most places, women do not need to wear a headscarf, but we recommend wearing long sleeves, long trousers or long skirts, avoiding vests and shorts, and never sandals or slippers, and avoiding exposing the shoulders, ankles or nape of the neck.

Currently, there are no mandatory vaccination requirements for travelling to Egypt from Hong Kong or Macao, nor is there any need to present proof of yellow fever or other vaccinations. If you have any special health conditions, we recommend consulting your family doctor or a travel clinic before departure.

Please note that if you travel to Egypt from another location, departing from a high-risk yellow fever area, or transiting through an airport in such an area for more than 12 hours, you will need to bring proof of vaccination.

The currency used in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). Large hotels, restaurants and some shops accept international credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard, but traditional markets (Souks) and small vendors mostly deal in cash. We recommend bringing euros or US dollars for your pocket expenses; after arrival we will arrange for everyone to exchange for Egyptian Pounds at the airport or in the city for everyday use.

The official language of Egypt is Arabic, though English is also widely spoken. At tourist hotspots and hotels, basic communication in English poses little difficulty. However, in old-town markets or remote areas, locals may have more limited English, in which case our local guides and tour leaders will assist with basic communication.

Travel between cities is mainly by comfortable tour coaches, with journey times depending on distance and road conditions. Egypt's alleyways are narrow, so some areas may require walking in and out on foot.

Egypt is renowned for signature dishes such as Koshary, grilled meats and shawarma—rich in flavour but seasoned with natural spices. Most restaurants offer vegetarian options such as fava bean dishes and bean stews. If you have special dietary requirements, such as vegan, gluten-free or food allergies, please let us know in advance when you sign up and we will help make arrangements.
Throughout the journey we will also try to arrange a variety of dining experiences, including Western restaurants, authentic Egyptian cuisine and Chinese food.
